Getting Started · How It Works
What Happens After You Book an Introductory Call?
You may be putting off speaking with a financial advisor because you think you need to get organized first.
The truth is, you don’t.
You don’t need to gather account statements, build spreadsheets, create a budget, know what you’re invested in, or prepare specific questions before reaching out.
My process is designed to be simple and efficient. We’ll talk about what’s on your mind, and you’ll get the information you need to decide whether working with me is right for you. Whether you have a complex financial situation, a single question, or are simply curious about taking greater control of your finances, it starts with a conversation.
I’ve guided Foreign Service households across five continents and can coordinate meetings across time zones. Wherever you’re posted, I’ll help you take the next step.
A Few Things to Know Up Front
FSO Wealth is proud to be a flat-fee, advisory-only firm.
We do not charge a percentage of your assets, that includes your TSP balance.
Your fee isn’t based on how much you’ve saved or your net worth. You’ve worked hard to build what you have, and I don’t believe you should pay more simply because you’ve accumulated more assets.

Your Complimentary Introductory Call
The process begins with a complimentary 30-minute introductory call.

You’ll speak directly with Warren.
Founder of FSO Wealth and an EFM, with prior Department of State experience in ECON and GSO.
Learn more here →When you schedule the meeting, you’ll receive a short questionnaire with eight questions, mostly multiple choice and all optional. Your answers help focus the call on what matters most to you, so you get the most out of our time together.
The introductory call is primarily an opportunity for you to share your concerns, ask questions, and discuss the areas of your finances where you’d like help.
I’ll also explain how I work, answer any questions you have about my process and fees, and determine whether it makes sense to continue the conversation.
There are no big decisions to make during this meeting. If we both decide it’s worth exploring further, we’ll schedule a second complimentary 30-minute meeting called the How I Can Help Meeting.
What You Don’t Need Before We Meet
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to get everything organized before speaking with a financial advisor.
You do not need:
- Organized account statements
- To know what you are currently invested in
- A spreadsheet of your finances
- A detailed budget
- Financial planning software
- New accounts opened
- Every financial document gathered in one place
- A complete understanding of what you need help with
In fact, helping you organize your financial life is often part of the process.
Your job is simply to show up and have a conversation. I’ll guide the discussion and help identify what deserves the most attention.
Between Meetings
After our introductory call, I’ll spend time reviewing everything we’ve discussed.
I’ll analyze your situation, identify opportunities for improvement, think through the challenges you’re facing, and prepare ideas for addressing the issues that are most important to you.
That work becomes the foundation for our next meeting.
The “How I Can Help” Meeting
During this meeting, I’ll walk you through:
- How I can help address the issues we discussed during our introductory call
- Additional opportunities and challenges I’ve identified
- Strategies that may help resolve those issues
- How I’ve helped others facing similar situations
- What working together could look like
The purpose of this meeting is to help you understand how I would approach your situation and whether we’re the right fit for one another.
Your One-Page Financial Plan
Directly after the meeting, you’ll receive a personalized, one-page summary of the priorities we discussed, the key opportunities and challenges I identified, and the strategies I believe are worth considering. It gives you something concrete to review and discuss with the people involved in your decision.
Should you decide to work with me after this process, you should know that I will never give you an 80+ page PDF “Financial Plan” and call it a day. I strive to provide concise, actionable plans that actually get implemented. No large PDFs that collect digital dust.
Moving Forward
If you decide you’d like to work together, we can schedule an onboarding meeting and begin the process.
If you’d like time to think about it, that’s perfectly fine as well.
Choosing a financial advisor is an important decision, and I want you to have the information you need to decide what’s best for you and your family.
Whether you choose to work with me or not, my goal is for you to leave this process with more knowledge than you had before, a better understanding of your financial situation, and greater clarity around which areas of your finances deserve the most attention.
And if all of that starts with a simple 30-minute conversation, that’s time well spent.
